What is a DTF?
In 2014, the Catalan Tourism Agency of the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded Castell-Platja d’Aro its certification as a new Family Tourism Destination (DTF), a distinction only awarded to 19 other destinations across the country. To achieve this, it has required the involvement and collaboration of the Town Council and local businesses, given that there are a whole set of requirements that must be met, both by the public sector and in the services offered by the private sector. Gradually, we must achieve various percentages in the number of establishments that provide for a family audience staying in their facilities and using their services. At the same time, the Council has to ensure that there are children's play and leisure areas, to signpost danger areas, provide information in different languages, implement passive and active security measures, offer a programme of activities designed for family audiences, and provide the Children’s Mini Club-Play Area.
