Family- friendly área on the beach: miniclub, babyclub and family games on the beach

During the months of July and August you can enjoy the Miniclub located in Platja Gran (c/ Costa Brava)
In this area you can find various facilities for families with children:
• Mini Club: a playful-educational proposal aimed at the kids of the house. In this space, run by a team of monitors who will take care of the children, they will be able to enjoy workshops, crafts, games... A whole programme of activities to have fun near the sea! Free activity for children from 3 to 12 years old, maximum stay of 1 hour per day.
• Family games on the beach: The Miniclub space in the afternoons becomes a place to share games, workshops, storytelling... with the whole family, children and adults can enjoy all the activities that the team of monitors has prepared for you to have a good time as a family. Free activity
• Babyclub: This service, located on the beach next to the Miniclub, is aimed at families with babies from 0 to 3 years old. Here you will find a whole range of services adapted to the needs of families with babies: baby-changing table, high chairs, air-conditioned module, microwave, fridge, sink, breastfeeding area... It also has a shaded area outside with toys and a space to park pushchairs while using the service. Everything is specially conceived to make it easier for families with babies to enjoy a wonderful day at the beach.

Gincanas Familiares

An exciting alternative way to discover all the spots in the village is with one of the gymkhanas "Where is Xalarí?".
How does it work? Xalarí has hidden himself in all the places he loves in the town, come to the Tourist Office to look for the map and with the help of the clues you have to find the hidden plaques, write down the code which is on each one, and when you have found them all, come to the tourist office and we will give you a gift... Are you ready?

Els Estanys Park

Urban park of 150,000 m², an attractive urban park for citizens, tourists and naturalists, inaugurated in October 2012, which recovers the original habitats and environments of the area. Discover the richness of the first urban park in the municipality and learn about the water cycle, its flora and fauna and some of the 250 species of birds that live there or stay there during their migrations.
During your visit you can also enjoy the temporary exhibitions of large-scale sculptures that the park hosts, discover an open-air museum!

Mercè Rodoreda Library

The Mercè Rodoreda municipal public library has two floors with a total surface area of 500 m². In the first floor you can find the information services, lending, consultation of the fiction collection, audiovisuals and the children's room. On the downstairs floor there is a magazine area, knowledge collection, computers and a consultation room.
The facility has a collection of some 40,000 freely accessible documents. Most of them can be borrowed with a library card: 15 books, 5 magazines, 5 CDs, 5 DVDs/console games or 5 vinyl records can be borrowed for 30 days and 1 board game for 15 days per person.
Other services provided are: self-service photocopies, wifi, printing with wifi, interlibrary loan.
Throughout the year, an extense programme of activities is developed, which consolidates the facility as a cultural space, beyond reading, study and enjoyment of the collection that can be found in the library.

Playgrounds and sports parks

Throughout the municipality there are dozens of public parks with playground furniture and trees, and with a wide range of play facilities for children. Beyond the more classic proposals of swings and slides, you can also discover some surprising elements, always surrounded by safety fences and with soft floors.
If you are more into sports you can also find a whole series of sports areas spread throughout the municipality such as the skatepark, basketball courts, multi-sports courts, ping-pong tables, urban health parks...

The Vall d’Aro mini train circuit

Every Sunday and public holiday throughout the year you can enjoy this mini-train circuit in Castell d'Aro, a circuit around the old Castell d'Aro train station and where you can also see one of the steam engines of the “Carrilet”, the railway route that used to connect Sant Feliu de Guíxols with Girona. This route has now been converted into a greenway, a cycle path that is ideal for the whole family to enjoy the environment and nature.
